07-10-15 06:33HybridStormeven if you may get a free upgrade... nor worth the risk
07-10-15 06:33message144not worth upgradig or buying tiger right now?
07-10-15 06:33HybridStormno worth buying tiger right now
07-10-15 06:33message144why do you think that?
07-10-15 06:33message144oh yes i agree
07-10-15 06:34message144yeah i guess ill just hold out
07-10-15 06:35message144I would that apple should ship a full install disc when you buy a machine.. all i got was a stupid recovery disc
07-10-15 06:46LSD`message144 the discs they give you are closer to full install discs than what you typically get with PC lasptops P
07-10-15 06:48eromerowell my hp laptop had both recovery and full install discs -D
07-10-15 06:50message144Do you think its better to zero out a new disc or is that unnecessary?
07-10-15 06:51LSD`Dell give you full install disks too but it's far from the norm. Most just give you image recovery discs or worse yet, no discs at all and just a partition with the image recovery software on it
07-10-15 06:55dustmaneu might be first to enforce hardware only sales
07-10-15 06:56dustmanlast months anti-ms ruling was interesting
07-10-15 07:41jimborobertsHi all, quick question, you know when you create a smart folder and lets say create it to hold all of the flagged mail... it pops up with a count... but if you split that folder into 2 lets say one received that week and another received that month then the count does display. Is there anyway of getting it to display?
07-10-15 07:43dustmanclick on it
07-10-15 07:56jimborobertsclick on it
07-10-15 07:56jimboroberts?
07-10-15 07:57jimborobertsthat will show what's in it nicely, but not the count...
07-10-15 08:00dustmanwell, click on it and then on 'inbox' f.ex.
07-10-15 08:00dustmanshould work
07-10-15 08:01dustmanreal-time updates suck in both smart folders and Finder
07-10-15 08:10jimborobertsso it should show a count for any smart mailbox?
07-10-15 09:54bushwakkoI have the strangest problem here now, if I click on a link with my external mouse it wants to download that link even if its .htm or .html or whatever

07-10-15 12:34Pc_Darkif i buy a MacBook, can I buy the ram from newegg instead of paying for super expensive ram?
07-10-15 12:35Pc_Darklike I want 2gigs so can I just buy that off new egg
07-10-15 12:46IronRosesI just had my first ever crash on my mac
07-10-15 12:47Pc_Dark=\
07-10-15 12:48IronRosesafter using boot camp i clicked restart computer......it went dark blue andthis message came up saying please push down the power button for a couple of seconds to restart your computer
07-10-15 12:48IronRosesin a way i'm excited about it....
07-10-15 12:49IronRosesit's a bit like making neww software, you'd rather have it crash on you than the user and you egt exicted about it because you caught the bug first
07-10-15 12:49Rawhhehe
07-10-15 12:49Rawhi like bug hunting
07-10-15 12:49IronRosesI can't get enough of it..lol
07-10-15 12:49Rawhbut i'd rather do that with websites that have been coded from scratch cause its not like you can seriously brake things with that
07-10-15 12:49IronRosesyeh, i recently found out how crap the mac is for music production...
07-10-15 12:50IronRoses...and don't say "hey use garageband" because thats hardly professional and not really good for producing at all
07-10-15 12:50RawhACTION is becoming a network security specialist... i'm quite aware already what can go horribly wrong and i'd rather prevent that then fix it, when it happens )
07-10-15 12:51IronRoseswell i sent thye report off to apple, I doubt they'lll really care about it since leopard will be out at the end opf this month
07-10-15 12:52IronRosesI wa sshwoing my mate expos'e erlier and he said "ok, so I don't like macs but yeh thats pretty impressive"
07-10-15 12:53IronRosesI gotta buy myself another mouse because the problem I have is that the mouse wheel doesn't roll up....it rarely works......
07-10-15 12:57Pc_Darki would so get a mac if it was the same price for hardware as HP (
07-10-15 13:04IronRosesIv'e only recently switch....
07-10-15 13:05IronRoses...and i'd never think about buying an HP computer becaus ethey are dog shit...build your own
07-10-15 13:11IronRoseswhats the free custom boot manager called for os x?
07-10-15 13:11IronRosesEFI something boot manager
07-10-15 13:13soneilrefit springs to mind?
07-10-15 13:13Pc_Darkhow much discount can I get on a mac
07-10-15 13:14IronRosesthanks, I found it
07-10-15 13:16IronRosesyou won't get a discount if you don't go to an american college
07-10-15 13:16IronRosesanyway i oubt it's much anyway
07-10-15 13:17IronRosesyour better off going on to ebay anmd having a look around
07-10-15 13:17teknofonixor apple refurbished
07-10-15 13:17Pc_Darkebay
07-10-15 13:18IronRosesI'm looking for a 30Gb refurbished ipod right now, I'll be damned if i'm gonna pay that much for a 30Gb ipod, I can get the same amount of space from a zen touch for half the price
07-10-15 13:18Pc_Darkif i ebay is it still a legal copy of OS X
07-10-15 13:18IronRosesyep
07-10-15 13:19IronRosesyeh, the zen touch 30Gb also plays videos....and has a slightly bigger screen than the ipod classic
07-10-15 13:19IronRosesand....it came out waaay before the ipod did
07-10-15 13:19teknofonixits butt ugly
07-10-15 13:19IronRosesso yet again apple lies to it's customers by saying "hey, we are innovitive"
07-10-15 13:20Pc_Darkwhat are iMac's going for on ebay
07-10-15 13:20Pc_DarkI have a $1300 budget
07-10-15 13:20Pc_DarkI want the most for my money.
07-10-15 13:21teknofonixget a mac mini - new
07-10-15 13:21IronRosesit really annoys me the way steve jobs does the keynotes. Even if apple came out with a shoe rack that play music every time you palce shoes on it steve would styill say "this is the most innovitive thing apple has bought out and doesn't it look gorgeous" and all the idiots in the audience still bloody clap like seals
07-10-15 13:21Pc_Darkyes but it only has a 2ghz proc...is that fast enough?
07-10-15 13:21Pc_DarkIronRoses, he's a marketing GENIUS
07-10-15 13:22teknofonixfast enough for what?
07-10-15 13:22IronRoseslike iv'e said before the only thing that is stopping me from selling this mac is i just love OS X
07-10-15 13:23Pc_DarkI don't know...just productive
07-10-15 13:23Pc_DarkI like to get work done fast
07-10-15 13:23Pc_Darkand linux is a pain
07-10-15 13:23Pc_Darkand windows crashes
07-10-15 13:23teknofonixof course
07-10-15 13:23Pc_Darkwill osx do what I need
07-10-15 13:23Pc_Darknot crash and not be a pain ?
07-10-15 13:23teknofonixget a mac mini and cheap out on monitor and stuff
07-10-15 13:24Pc_Darki am using my 1080p television for monitor
07-10-15 13:24IronRoseswell when apple say os x never crashs that ain't true
07-10-15 13:24Pc_Darkso i dont need monitor
07-10-15 13:24teknofonixjust a cable i beleive
07-10-15 13:24Pc_Darki have a dvi->hdmi cable
07-10-15 13:24teknofonixadd a plasma later)
07-10-15 13:24Pc_Darkmy tv is plasma
07-10-15 13:25teknofonixbah
07-10-15 13:25Pc_Darkso i guess mac mini is good
07-10-15 13:25teknofonixi have a macbook
07-10-15 13:25teknofonixits amazing
07-10-15 13:25dustmanPc_Dark, since your use of mac is secret, we can't say if mac mini is enough
07-10-15 13:25teknofonixand its not even pro
07-10-15 13:26IronRosespc_dark your better off going on to ebay and buying yourself a intel mac.....20" whatever you can afford
07-10-15 13:26dustmanc'mon, you can get new imac for these money
07-10-15 13:27teknofonixpc dark already has peripherals though as I understand it
07-10-15 13:27sbbathACTION isn't running iTunes currently.
07-10-15 13:28IronRosesok, heres a question for you all, steve has billions, why doesn't he give some to charity.....bill gates does....
07-10-15 13:29dustman#1 he doesn't want to
07-10-15 13:29dustman#2 why should he?
07-10-15 13:30teknofonixbecause he is not the devils spawn
07-10-15 13:30IronRosesbecause he's a self obssessed prick and lets face itguys, I mean come on all he cares about is himself, wow, he's neearly on par with bill gates...
07-10-15 13:31teknofonixhehe..add quite a few others to that list
07-10-15 13:32BranesJobs is a stubborn, arrogant ass. Gates is a stubborn petulant ass. The former did acid, the latter never even gets drunk. Your question? )
07-10-15 13:32dustmanIronRoses, socialism and communism are both myths
07-10-15 13:34IronRoseswhat really annoys me are the prices apple charges for their computers, ok so there neat and tidy and all in one (unless you buy the mac pro) but what most people say is "oh there fast and stable" but both pc and mac now use the same hardware, so how can one be faster than the other, infact macs will always be behind pc's....that will never change but yet again the only thing that is keeping it all together is OS X.....
07-10-15 13:35KingNatoMaybe Jobs likes having billions? I sure would
07-10-15 13:35IronRosesit' like why i bought a mac in the first place to get away from the os before, windows.....not for the hardware
07-10-15 13:36Pc_DarkIt feels better to give stuff away really, KingNato
07-10-15 13:36Pc_DarkI'm only getting a mac 'cause of OS X
07-10-15 13:36Pc_Darkreally just 'cause it looks so sexy
07-10-15 13:37IronRosesooo it is sexy....and stable and faster than windows
07-10-15 13:37Pc_DarkIt is?
07-10-15 13:37KingNatoI already give away about 50% of my pay to the government, and do I feel any better for it? Nope P
07-10-15 13:38Pc_DarkKingNato, no, to people that can't even eat
07-10-15 13:38IronRosesI like many others was bought in buy those adverts apple ran on tv......no trial software, no virus's.....no whatever else....wait a minute, a lie here, no trial software? yeh right, there is trial software in OS X, Iwork 08 thats trial software....
07-10-15 13:38Pc_Darkis iLife 08 included?
07-10-15 13:38KingNatoPc_Dark Well, that's what the government claim they take my money for, people who are poor
07-10-15 13:38IronRosesI wouldv'e thought so but it's nothing to get excited about to be honest...
07-10-15 13:39Pc_DarkKingNato, the government does not donate to charity really at all
07-10-15 13:39Pc_Darkplease do not believe everything the government says
07-10-15 13:39Pc_Darkbut then again, I don't think they are doing bad things with the money we give them
07-10-15 13:39Pc_Darkbut, I digress
07-10-15 13:39KingNatoPc_Dark Well, first of all, I'm in Sweden so my government in fact does rather a lot more for the poor than does the US government
07-10-15 13:40IronRosesI need a smoke
07-10-15 13:40IronRosesenojoy the pease whilst i am gone
07-10-15 13:40IronRosesi'll come back with some more crap for you lot to digest
07-10-15 13:41IronRosesand more typos...lol
07-10-15 13:41Pc_DarkKingNato, how do you know?
07-10-15 13:41Pc_Darkwe give to Darfur and such too
07-10-15 13:42IronRoses...they say people never switch when they buy a mac, well i bloody am.....after the life of this mac, about 5 years time I think
07-10-15 13:42IronRosesanyway brb
07-10-15 13:43teknofonixPc_Dark iLife should be included IMHO along with the pro Quicktime but I guess ithe cash Cow needs milking
07-10-15 13:44KingNatoPc_Dark The US gives about a third of a percent of GDP i (government) foreign aid, Sweden about 1 percent
07-10-15 13:44KingNatoIf you add charitable the US gets closer but I think still behind
07-10-15 13:45teknofonixi use opensource apps on my mac wherever possible (which is for just about most things)
07-10-15 13:45brokenjagoteknofonix If they included both iLife and Quicktime pro, would you be willing to pay more? Say, $189?
07-10-15 13:45KingNatoACTION realises this isn't the channel he thought it was and quiets down
07-10-15 13:45brokenjagoKingNato lol.
07-10-15 13:46teknofonixnope - i am a mythological beast and beleive in the ethics of people like richard stallman - sorry)
07-10-15 13:46dustmanKingNato, social discussions are mostly pointless while quite heated
07-10-15 13:47brokenjagoteknofonix I see. So you pirate software?
07-10-15 13:47KingNatodustman They can be fun and sometimes someone learns something
07-10-15 13:47teknofonixha....of course not...the opposite
07-10-15 13:47brokenjagoKingNato Sometimes. *sometimes*
07-10-15 13:47brokenjagoteknofonix Good stuff. i hate it when people are all "GNU RULES!"
07-10-15 13:47dustmanKingNato, in that case i'm liberalist and think ppl should pay for everything
07-10-15 13:47brokenjagoand then turn around and go pirate photoshop or something
07-10-15 13:48Pc_Darkhow nice is the 20" apple display
07-10-15 13:48brokenjagoPc_Dark not very.
07-10-15 13:48dustmangood enough
07-10-15 13:48brokenjago"good enough" for $700 doesn't cut it for me >
07-10-15 13:49dustmanah, you mean separate display
07-10-15 13:49dustmandrop it in that case
07-10-15 13:49brokenjagoACTION bought his much nicer higher contrast ratio higher brightness 1" bigger samsung display with a ton more inputs and PiP for $479
07-10-15 13:49brokenjagoalso, much higher response time.
07-10-15 13:50Pc_Darkbut is it pretty
07-10-15 13:50brokenjagotranslation Except for the 30", Apple displays are horrendous value.
07-10-15 13:50brokenjagolol, true dat
07-10-15 13:50brokenjagoif you're willing to pay the premium for looks and matching,. something which I can and do relate with
07-10-15 13:50Pc_Darkapple makes pretty stuff
07-10-15 13:50brokenjagoby all means, do so
07-10-15 13:50Pc_Darkthats the only reason I'm getting a mac
07-10-15 13:50Pc_Dark;p
07-10-15 13:50brokenjagoif you're looking for value, look somewhere else.
07-10-15 13:50brokenjagolol
07-10-15 13:51Pc_DarkI need easy on the eyes
07-10-15 13:51brokenjagoso
07-10-15 13:51brokenjagohttp//www.mininova.org/tor/937420 <<-- real or fake?
07-10-15 13:52KingNatoI think the last time the 20" cinema display was good was about when they first released the metallic one, and even then it was overpriced
07-10-15 13:52Pc_Darkis the 24" display nice?
07-10-15 13:53brokenjagowhat 24" display
